Filing a divorce without an attorney?

Question by Darko: Filing a divorce without an attorney? So I have this friend who has been married to the same guy for 11 years. I recently lost touch with her and just saw her for the first time in 5 years about 2 weeks ago. She spoke of how she just had to have a breast removed from cancer, and then started telling me about her problems at home. The guy she's married to refuses to offer her any money to do anything. As opposed to staying at home and healing well, she's been doing small cleaning jobs for $ 50 a day even though she only came out of surgery about 3 weeks earlier. He refuses to give her money for food, or to buy her children things they need. Recently he took the stimulus checks the family received and spent them on what we presume to be pot and a new fish aquarium. My questions is, she desperately wants to divorce him or separate from him so she can have him removed from the house. A lawyer said he needed $ 2k. Are there any easier ways to do things? We live in Ohio. Best answer:

There are paralegal offices that do flat rate divorce papers for $ 500.00. They fill them out for you, but you still need to take them to court yourself. You will represent yourself instead of an attorney. The office will tell you what packet of forms you need.
