Does anyone have an idea of what a simple divorce in Florida would cost?

Question by gatormom1016: Does anyone have an idea of what a simple divorce in Florida would cost? It involves a 17 yr old child but no assets to split ie. house, cars, etc. No custody battle involved either. Already tried doing the papers myself but the spouse isn't doing their part. Want to have the spouse served and they have a certain time to respond. Guess will need an attorney to file them but curious as to what that would cost. Best answer:

Educated guess- $ 1500-$ 2000. IF he doesn't argue about anything!! The minute you start to fight, the money amount explodes. ps- I don't think anyone read your question! You already tried to do it yourself... :) At least contact an attorney and pay for a couple of hours of his time to get it done right. A serve by a licensed process server is usually $ 50-$ 150, depending on how many times they have to try. If you know where he is and they can find him in the first pass (works from 8-5, etc) that will keep your cost down. The one guy is right, could you wait until your child turns 18? Would make it much simpler.
