Q&A: Forging divorce papers?

Question by : Forging divorce papers? This question has to do with a family member of mine. She didn't know she was divorced from my uncle until recently. She also found out he married someone else. She never signed a single divorce paper and is in complete shock that she's divorced and he remarried. In addition, they have one child going to college and needs financial assistance and he doesn't help her at all. Now, she's suddenly on her own financially with everything that has to be paid while he's away with his new wife in another country on a trip. My question: How is it possible for him to get a divorce without her knowing? And, since she is planning to get an attorney to see if she can get something, will he get in trouble? (New York residents) And if so, how much trouble? NOTE: THEY WERE (even during the time he was doing all this) AND ARE STILL LIVING TOGETHER IN THE SAME HOUSE. She just didn't know all this was happening behind her back. But NOW she knows she's divorced and that he remarried. All this happened while still living with him. When he gets back, he will be very surprised that he doesn't have a home (he probably thought "she will never know", even while living with her) Best answer:

Lets see, he is in line for charges of fraud, forgery, and bigamy. He is going to be a busy boy.
